Battling Bronx Bombers: The Tumultuous 1977 Season Begins
Catfish Hunter beat the Brewers on Opening Day, but the Yankees' bats went silent and the Brewers took two of three

Today is the start of my newest series that will chronicle the remarkable 1977 season when the Yankees ended a 15-year championship drought, and endured quite a journey to get there, battling themselves as much as their opponents.
Click the image below and you will magically be taken to The Ballpark, my new platform at Mighty Networks, to read this story. From now on, Battling Bronx Bombers will only post over there. Same goes for the Wednesday Pinstripe Past stories, and the occasional Box Score Briefs content I produce. For those of you already there, you received this story about 10 minutes ago, but I wanted to post here today as well to continue to get the word out.
Again, a reminder to please create your free account at Mighty Networks so that you will receive all my content. As I’ve said, I’ll continue to send the main Pinstripe People newsletter here, but eventually I’d like to have everyone go to Mighty Networks. It’s been a slow process so far as still only about 20% of you have created an account and I’ll reiterate that it’s really simple to do. There’s also a free app you can download for your phone and tablet which is really slick.
Once you do it, you’ll see The Ballpark is great, and you will receive everything that I write. And remember, all stories will still come via your email like they do now, so essentially it’s the same gift, just different wrapping paper.
The big benefit to doing this is participation and community. You can comment directly on stories, start a chat with me, or chat with each other. One thing I’ve been doing there to get the discussion started is publish some quick post-game thoughts where you can chime in on what you thought of the game, sort of like Twitter/X without all the nonsense. Below is the link that will enable you to set up your account. Please do so, it takes less than a minute.
