Hey everyone, I thought I would start breaking up these four-game series with a newsletter after the first two games, so here are my irritated thoughts about a horrendous first two nights at Fenway Park, and then I’ll have a Day at the Ballpark for Sunday morning. If you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription, please do so below. Lets get to it.

I guess I was one series late regarding my trepidation about the Yankees during this week-long road trip.

I was leery about the first stop they made in Detroit because the last-place Tigers had started to play much better as they were coming off a three-game sweep of the White Sox, they were throwing their best three pitchers, and it just felt like the Yankees were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So what happened? New York won two out of three and beat Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal in the process for a very nice series win, and I thought Aaron Boone’s team would go into Boston feeling pretty good and lay the wood to another last-place team, one that truly deserves to be in last place.

Wrong.

The Yankees have shit all over themselves in losing the first two games 6-3 and 6-1 and while their defense was laughably bad Thursday which led to that loss, the more pressing issue is the continued putrid offense that can now be classified as a legitimate concern.

One reason the Yankees’ offense has hit the wall is Ben Rice is currently in a 7-for-35 slump over the last nine games.

Over the last nine games starting with the 5-1 finale loss against the White Sox on June 18, three games against the Reds, three against the Tigers and the first two in Boston, the Yankees have been utterly feeble at the plate.

They have lost six of the nine games, and remember, when they met the Yankees Cincinnati was last place in the NL Central, Detroit was fourth in the AL Central, and not only was Boston last in the AL East, it was tied for the fewest wins in MLB with the God forsaken Rockies.

It has been a slow go getting people to upgrade your subscription. The cost is pretty minimal considering how much content I produce, so I hope you’ll click below now that I’ve fixed the link.
